FAQ’s

Do I have to have kids to come on the cruise?
No. Although we created the Multicultural Family Cruise with kids in mind, couple and singles are welcome to join us. They are also welcome to participate (or not participate) in the Self-Esteem Parenting Seminar and workshops. The evening entertainment program aboard the Norwegian Spirit is designed for adults (kids are welcome to some of the shows) and there are several “no kid” zones, including the Casino and dance clubs.

How do you make a reservation?
To reserve your stateroom, contact us at 888-711-3046. We require a deposit (per person) at the time of booking and the final balance is due on April 6, 2008. After that date, we do require full payment at the time of booking.

Should I purchase travel insurance?
We strongly recommend that you purchase travel insurance. We have a plan that was created for us. However, you are welcome to pick any plan by any provider. Travel Insurance is not required but again, recommended. Please feel free to contact our agent, Virginia Emanuel, at 973-923-0065 or devineinsagcy@comcast.net to arrange coverage for your family.

What is included in my fare?
All on-board entertainment, NCL’s world-class kids programs, a $50 per stateroom credit, one stateroom group photo, all DollsLikeMe.com onboard events (including the parenting workshops, kid-friendly movies, games, contests, and giveaways), a DollsLikeMe.com Kiddie Travel Pack for each child, ocean transportation, port/ship fees, and all on-board meals. Additional charges will include gratuities, transportation to/from ship, beverages, excursions, gambling, souvenirs, etc.

What time will we embark/disembark?
The cruise will embark at 4:00 pm and disembark at 10:00 am. If you are flying in the day of embarkation, we suggest that you arrive no later than 2:00 pm, as all passengers need to be on-board no later than 3:30 pm. When flying out the day of disembarkation we suggest that you schedule your flight at 4:00 pm or after as we can not guarantee that you will be able to disembark earlier than 11:00 am.

Is there a Casino on-board?
There is a casino on-board. Hours of operation will be posted in the Daily Sheets that will be delivered to your stateroom.

Are there ATM’s on-board?
There are an ATM’s on-board; the transaction fee is $5.00. Traveler’s checks may be cashed at the front office. Personal checks are not accepted. Traveler’s checks and most major credit cards are accepted in the ports we visit. Proper ID is required when cashing traveler’s checks. We recommend you carry a small amount of local currency when visiting foreign ports, although credit cards are commonly accepted in shops and restaurants. Onboard accounts may be settled in US or Canadian currencies only.

When will we be able to view the Self-Esteem Seminar schedule?
A schedule will be posted on our Website or sent by email. One is also provided for you once you are on-board. You will receive one schedule per person that will be delivered to your stateroom prior to embarkation. There will also be a day by day schedule printed in the daily sheets for your viewing pleasure.

What other activities will be available on-board?
In addition to the cruise line entertainment schedule and award-winning children’s programs, we will also have on-board workshops, multicultural children’s films, contests, games, prizes and much more. NCL will also have spa/fitness services, as well as casino services, art auctions, etc.

When will we receive our cruise tickets?
You should expect to receive your cruise documents approximately three weeks prior to sailing. This information will include your booking/passenger numbers, excursion information, emergency contact information, pre-cruise party information, luggage tags, transfer vouchers (if applicable), and much more general information.

When can we book excursions?
You may book shore excursions once you have received your cruise documents that will contain your booking/passenger numbers. Excursions may be booked on-line at NCL.com usually up to 2 weeks before departure. Excursions may also be booked on-board at the excursion office.

Are there any formal nights on-board?
Yes. The second night is a formal night.

How should I dress for dinner?
Freestyle Cruising gives you the freedom to dress as you please – morning, noon and night. Casual attire is perfect for all restaurants during the day -- Khakis, skirts, jeans, casual tops, shorts or whatever. Swimwear with a cover-up is fine at the buffet and outdoor restaurant.

For dinner, collared shirts and pants or nice jeans work for men. Slacks, dresses, skirts and tops are perfect for women. But if you want to dress up and add a little glamour when you dine out, that’s OK too. One restaurant each night is reserved just for that.

For kids 12 and under, nice shorts are appropriate in all restaurants at all times.

What are the cancellation policies?

  • If canceling prior to January 1st $100 per person
  • January 1st to February 29th $200 per person
  • March 1st to March 31 50% of total cruise cost
  • April 1st to sailing 100% of total cruise cost (non-refundable)

Do I need a passport?
The Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004 requires that travelers to and from the Caribbean have a passport to enter or re-enter the United States. To assist you in the process of obtaining your passport(s), we have compiled this information. passport page

Can we bring alcohol on-board?
No. All alcohol purchased in the vessel’s shops or at ports of call will be collected for safekeeping and delivered to your stateroom on the last day of voyage.

What is restricted?
Passengers are not allowed to bring on board the vessel without the previous written permission of NCL any intoxicating liquors, or beverages, firearms, weapons of any kind, ammunition, explosive substances or any goods of a dangerous nature, nor animals of any kind, except service or guide animals (provided the passenger notifies Carrier prior to the cruise of his intention to bring such animal and agrees to take sole responsibility for any expense, damage, injuries or losses associated with or caused by such animal).

Is there a Doctor/Hospital on-board?
The ship has a Medical Center equipped to handle most emergencies and routine medical procedures. The infirmary includes an Intensive Care Unit and cardiac monitoring equipment. Consulting hours will be printed in the daily sheets on-board. A fee will be charged to your account for physician/nurse service and for any medications dispensed.

Will I be able to connect to the internet?
There will be 24 hour internet access in certain designated locations. Wireless internet access is also available and will be billed to your on-board account. Please see the NCL Internet Manager during hours listed in the daily program to receive a connection package. A limited supply of wireless laptop rentals are also available for a fee.
